Microsoft Corp. credited the continued success of its Windows operating system for boosting profit 45% in the recent quarter.
The Redmond, Wash.-based software giant said net income totaled $209 million, or 70 cents a share, in the first fiscal quarter, ended Sept. 30.
That compares to $144 million in profit, or 50 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue totaled $818 million, up 41% from $581 million a year ago.
