BALDWIN HILLS : Exams, Counseling at Family Center
- Share via
The Multiservice Family Center Inc. offers physical, mental and social services all geared toward “healing and building for community empowerment.”
The center, directed by Dr. Evelyn S. Clark, offers psychiatric evaluations, free physical exams and immunizations for children, crisis counseling, substance-abuse treatment and job preparation skills. Although some of the services are funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a result of the riots, many of the programs are regularly offered by the center.
“After the FEMA money discontinues (probably next month), we still plan to offer psychiatric and other services to those people suffering from the effects of the unrest,” Clark said.
Family counseling extends to teens, couples, children and parents seeking child-rearing guidance. Mental health services include stress and depression management, grief counseling and treatment for drug, alcohol and tobacco and eating disorders.
The center is at 3731 Stocker St., Suite 107. Information and appointments: (213) 292-0505.
