Nordhoff 10, Bishop Diego 3--Running back Josh Hawkins scored on a 53-yard run with 9:31 remaining to lift the Rangers (4-1) at Bishop Diego.

Bishop Diego (2-3) cut the lead to 10-3 with 4:34 remaining on a 29-yard field goal by Manny Marquez. Bishop Diego’s final attempt to tie the score was halted when Nordhoff’s Moose Colborn intercepted a pass on fourth down from the Cardinal 45 as time expired.

Hawkins rushed for 83 yards in 11 carries, and quarterback Steve Saum completed nine of 15 for 112 yards and had no interceptions. Kicker Sean Leach gave the Rangers a 3-0 first-half edge with a 32-yard field goal early in the second quarter.

The Ranger defense frustrated quarterback Greg Van Wyck throughout and held him to five completions in 20 attempts for 51 yards with three interceptions.
