The Indiana Pacers have signed first-round draft choice Malik Sealy and appear to be making progress in complicated negotiations with two-time Sixth Man Award-winner Detlef Schrempf.

Sealy, chosen with the 14th pick overall in the draft, signed a five-year contract believed to be worth $5.9 million.

Schrempf’s agent, Jeff Neal, said the biggest roadblock--the amount of deferred compensation the Pacers will give Schrempf before he can become an unrestricted free agent in 1994--has been resolved.
