POMONA : County Fair Turnout Slips to Lowest Level Since 1983
Attendance this year at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona slipped to 1,239,000--the lowest level since 1983, and more than 370,000 under last year’s total, but officials on Tuesday denied being disappointed at the numbers.
“It’s still the most heavily attended event in the state,†said Lynn Saunders, the fair’s communications director. “Last year was an all-time record. You don’t set a record every year.â€
An admission price increase that raised adult tickets from $8 to $10 could have kept some visitors away, but Saunders said fair officials have not yet analyzed the data. The fair ended its 24-day run Sunday.
