SIMI VALLEY : School Board Plans Counseling Study
Simi Valley school board members voted unanimously Tuesday to establish a task force of students, teachers and officials to analyze and make recommendations about student counseling services.
The task force will include counselors, teachers union and PTA representatives, high school students, teachers of special-education students, students with limited English, school administrators and district officials.
The group is scheduled to deliver its recommendations to the school board in March.
In other business, the board awarded the Blurock Partnership of Newport Beach a contract to design a new stadium at Royal High School. Construction of the $3.1-million structure, to be financed by redevelopment funds, is tentatively planned to begin next year and could be finished by late 1993 or early 1994, school officials have said.
The 7,000-seat stadium would host Royal High football games and its annual musical competition involving 35 school bands.
