Gardening : Greenhouse Offers Year-Round Growing Season

For those who love growing things, here’s a greenhouse that’s a must for the back yard. Seedlings can be given a head start for outdoor planting, or the greenhouse may be equipped with heating/cooling devices for year-round use to extend the growing season.

A step-by-step plan includes instructions and a detailed bill of materials to guide construction. The redwood frame measures a compact five by eight feet yet allows plenty of headroom inside. Cover the structure with heavy-gauge polyethylene sheeting (available at home centers, nurseries or lumber yards) by stapling it to the frame. The only tools needed are a saber saw, drill and staple gun.
