Two San Gabriel Valley students, Erykka Jimenez of Monrovia and Joel Gruenberg of Hacienda Heights, have won $1,000 scholarships in the Emerging Young Entertainer Scholarship Award of the Reachout Committee of the Music Center.
Jimenez, a graduate of Monrovia High School, is a soprano who sings opera, classical and folkloric music. She is a student at Pasadena City College.
Gruenberg, a pianist, graduated from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
The scholarships are designed to recognize and reward musical excellence and encourage further development of performing arts skills.
Reachout, a support committee of the Music Center, is dedicated to broadening awareness and interest in the performing arts.
