OXNARD : Mexican Consul to Be Parade Marshal
Mexican Consul Luis Humberto Ramirez has been chosen as grand marshal for the Fiestas Patrias Parade in Oxnard.
The parade is being held by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Ventura County to kick off a four-day festival that marks Mexico’s independence from Spain.
The celebration begins with a parade at noon Sept. 12 at Plaza Park in downtown Oxnard.
Ramirez, a local representative of the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles, has headed the Oxnard office since last year.
As grand marshal, Ramirez will preside over a parade that includes more than 100 entries. Parade participants include folklorico dancers, mariachis and marching bands, floats and equestrian units.
