President Bush on Congress
George Bush can fling mud and he can send up smoke (Aug. 21), but he can’t hide this fact: Successful presidents have had differences with Congress without dragging us into the nationwide economic miseries of today.
President Bush also says he was just too busy to manage the economy. Hogwash. Months of pounding from his advisers and the press finally got him to notice that people are hurting. But he still hasn’t come up with a realistic economic plan, and he isn’t going to.
If voters think the Congress did as bad a job as President Bush did, maybe they should vote their congressmen out, too. But in addition to Bush, not instead of.
