2 Banks Robbed; 1 Heist Ends in Arrest
Two Orange County banks were robbed Friday--one robbery ending in an arrest, the other with the bandit escaping with $2,000 in cash, police said.
The first occurred at 3:50 p.m. at City Bank in the 7500 block of Edinger Avenue in Huntington Beach.
Police Lt. Patrick Gildea said a man robbed the bank of about $2,000 after giving a teller a note demanding money. The robber grabbed the money from the teller and fled. Nobody was hurt.
The man was in his late 30s or early 40s, with straight, medium-length blond hair. He is about 6-foot-1 and thin, police said. He was wearing a light-colored shirt and rose-colored sunglasses.
The second robbery occurred about 5:15 p.m. at a First Interstate Bank branch in Costa Mesa.
Police said a man had been arrested in connection with the crime after a pursuit, but declined to release any further information and referred all requests for details to the FBI. Officials with the FBI could not be reached for comment late Friday.
