Whuddyamean Writers?
Why is it that reporters act as though directors are alone responsible for a film’s success and ignore the screenwriter?
Jane Galbraith’s article “Small-Scale ‘Move’ Getting Big-Time Notice†(Aug. 13) justly gives credit to one of this year’s truly great films, “One False Move.†But she fails to even mention the screenwriters, Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson. “One False Move†has been rightly praised for its masterful plot, its subtle and complex characters and its insight into race relations. Don’t the writers deserve credit for that?
