The death of Mike Wise, a former defensive lineman for the Raiders and Cleveland Browns, has been ruled a suicide, the coroner’s office in Woodland, Calif., said.

Wise, 28, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head Friday afternoon in his home near Davis, Calif., where he attended college.

Wise was cut by the Browns on Aug. 4 and went home, where friends said he had become despondent over his career and financial concerns.
