RAITT ON: Organizers of Bonnie Raitt’s Sept. 15 date at the Hollywood Bowl are saying that at least $60,000 from the receipts will be donated to four community activist groups involved in L.A.’s post riot-recovery. Most of the money is coming from 300 special $250 tickets that include an after-show reception with Raitt and opening act Robert Cray. Capitol Records, which releases Raitt’s albums, bought half of those tickets.
Raitt, who often uses her concerts to collect funds for social and environmental organizations, worked closely with Avocado Productions, a Los Angeles company that specializes in benefit events, to select the grass-roots organizations as recipients of the funds.
