Krabbe Faces Ban After Positive Drug Test

World women’s sprint champion Katrin Krabbe, who avoided a doping ban because of a legal technicality seven weeks ago, was labeled a drug cheat Friday and suspended.
Krabbe, 22, and German teammate Grit Breuer face four-year bans from competition after random tests they returned during training last month were confirmed as positive for the drug Clenbuterol.
German Athletics Federation doping official Ruediger Nickel said that Krabbe, the 100- and 200-meter champion in last year’s World Championships at Tokyo, and world 400 silver medalist Breuer would be suspended immediately.
