Eight newcomers and one incumbent will run for three open seats on the Tustin Unified School District board.

One of the unchallenged seats is being vacated by 25-year board member Barbara Benson, who said the board is too willing to make decisions without discussion and background information.

“Since we have changed superintendents there is a feeling in the community that everything that is brought forward should be passed. I just don’t operate like that,†she said. “I was beginning to feel like an obstructionist,†Benson added.

Ferguson, educator; Mark Sheridan, accounts manager; Irene Dardashti, a school district administrator; Sally Burrage and Carol McCauley, both community volunteers.
