Check It Out: Koll Construction recently broke ground on the Newport Beach Central Library--soon to be a two-story, 67,000-square-foot facility on the corner of MacArthur Boulevard and Coast Highway.
The $8-million contract calls for a building designed with flexible space and few walls so that the layout of the library can be restructured as needs change. Scheduled for completion in a year, the library will be home to about 260,000 books and audiotapes, and more than 500 magazine and newspaper subscriptions.
