DEEP ROOTS: Former U.S. Rep. William H. Gray III, president of the United Negro College Fund, comes from a family of educators. His mother was a college dean, his father president of two colleges, and his grandfather was a professor. Gray is tonight’s keynote speaker at the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity’s convention in Anaheim. Leaders of the predominantly African-American organization say they want to intensify their help to young black males.
