Countywide : Hepatitis Shots Free for Nursing Students
- Share via
Free hepatitis B vaccinations will be available Tuesday for more than 250 nursing students from four Orange County community colleges, college officials said.
Nursing students from Cypress, Golden West, Rancho Santiago and Saddleback colleges are eligible for the free inoculations, which normally would cost $43.
The health measure is being offered at no charge thanks to a $45,000 grant from the California Community College Foundation.
The shots, which are being administered at the Orange County Public Health Department in Santa Ana, will protect the nurses from the highly contagious virus.
Because as many as 20% of all contacts with a virus carrier result in transmission, the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta advises all health care professionals to get the voluntary vaccination.
Nursing students seeking information may call the Public Health Department at (714) 834-7700.
