PRE-COLONIAL DISCOVERY: Group exhibition by 11 artists challenges conventional theories of who “discovered” the Americas; at Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Barnsdall Art Park, 4800 Hollywood Blvd., Los Feliz; 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays through Aug. 16 ($1).
HOMELESS: A free slide show about innovative architecture to house the homeless; sponsored by L.A. Build, a nonprofit community based organization, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Los Angeles Room at the Hilton Hotel, Figueroa Street and Wilshire Blvd.
CONCERT ON THE GREEN: The Air Force Spectrum Band entertains at West Covina City Hall Courtyard, 1444 W. Garvey Ave.; 7 p.m. Thursday (free).
FESTIVAL: More than 25 of Los Angeles’ African-American restaurants will participate in the Taste of Black Los Angeles festival at noon on Saturday at the Crossroads Art Academy, 4310 Degnan Blvd. Admission is $5 in advance or $8 at the door. For information call (213) 777-9106.
