Pomona : Businessman Sentenced
A former Pomona business owner was placed on three years’ probation and ordered to pay a $15,000 fine for illegally storing 65 drums of solvents, thinners and paints.
Edward Chetakian, 67, of Upland, former owner of Chemlite, a plastics manufacturing plant at 2540 Fulton Road, pleaded guilty to the felony charge and was sentenced in Pomona Superior Court on July 30.
Chemlite went out of business in August, 1990, but the barrels of hazardous material were left behind. When other tenants on the property complained of odors, investigators discovered the abandoned drums, Deputy Dist. Atty. Robert Brodney said.
