MOSCOW — A joint Russian-French crew boarded Russia’s Mir orbiting station Wednesday for a mission designed to save the 6-year-old space base from an early demise.
Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency said the Soyuz TM spaceship that lifted two Russians and one Frenchman into orbit Monday linked up with Mir just three minutes behind schedule.
The cosmonauts crawled through a hatch into the station to join a two-man crew now due to return to Earth after five months aloft.
