Live, on Stage: Meanwhile, two dance legends also will play Southern California as part of their national tour together. Twyla Tharp and Mikhail Baryshnikov will be at the new Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 3-4, the only appearance in this area currently scheduled. A previously reported stop in Palm Desert did not materialize. Tharp has choreographed an all-new repertory for the tour, reportedly using six to eight dancers for each work. The $50-million Cerritos Center opens Jan. 13 and can hold 900 to 1,963 people depending on seating configuration. Tharp and Baryshnikov first worked together in the mid-1970s. “Push Comes to Shove†(1976) remains her best-known ballet for him.
