IBM Slashes Computer Prices: International Business Machines Corp. announced price cuts of up to 30% on its Personal System/2 line of personal computers. The list price of the best-selling PS/2 model--the 56 SLC-055--now stands at $2,485, down from $3,560. Analysts said the move is intended as a temporary measure to fend off price-cutting rivals until the world’s biggest computer company can launch new products in the fall.
