Motorcyclist Dies in Collision With Truck
A North Hollywood motorcyclist was killed Sunday when he collided with a pickup truck while trying to pass traffic near Lake Elizabeth, the California Highway Patrol said.
The 34-year-old man, whose identity was not released pending notification of his family, was riding east on Elizabeth Lake Road near Munz Ranch Road about 3:30 p.m. when he crossed into westbound traffic to complete a pass, Officer Robert Smart said. While taking a curve in the westbound lane, the man collided with the truck head-on, Smart said.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene, Smart said. The driver of the truck was uninjured, but a 19-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, he said.
