‘Cop Killer’ Fingers Social Tension

Martin Kent’s Counterpunch, “Enough Already--It’s Time to Chill Out Over Ice-T” (July 13), succinctly pointed out the hypocrisy of the white-ruling Establishment’s “artificial outrage” over Ice-T’s “Cop Killer” recording. In case anyone has overlooked the obvious, this song represents a narrative of one person’s extreme response to police misconduct , a fact conveniently ignored by most major reporting media.
The tension between this country’s racist social institutions and the descendants of captured Africans cannot continue indefinitely. A major confrontation looms. The question is, will it be a day of reconciliation or of reckoning?
