Simi Valley House Fire Causes Major Damage, Injures 1
About 40 firefighters were summoned Sunday night to put down a blaze that caused major damage to a Simi Valley home and left one occupant with first- and second-degree burns on his head, authorities said.
Reports of a residential fire in the 2700 block of Royal Avenue were phoned to the Ventura County Fire Department at 8:29 p.m., said dispatcher Jackie Noel. Firefighters were on the scene at 8:32, Noel said, and the blaze was quickly upgraded to a second alarm.
Six engines and two trucks were eventually used in combatting the blaze, which was contained about 9 p.m., Noel said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The injured resident, who was burned while trying to fight the fire, was treated at the scene.
