Cerritos : Live Performances to Test Acoustics at Arts Center
The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, scheduled to be completed in October, will hold a series of performances to test the acoustics before it officially opens Jan. 13.
From January to June, the center will offer 75 evenings of music, theater, mime, ballet and modern dance, the city has announced. Forty attractions will be offered, some in multiple performances. Performers and a complete schedule will be announced in August or September.
Cerritos residents will be able to buy subscriptions in advance through a mailing that will be sent to all households two weeks before public tickets go on sale. A box office will be opened in a trailer outside the theater.
After the building is completed, a variety of groups will perform to test acoustics and familiarize the staff with theater operations.
“We will get performing arts organizations in the auditorium so we can tune the house with an audience in the seats,†said center Manager Victor Gotesman. Groups interested in using the theater may contact the city.
