Parents, Squirt Guns Soak Up Criticism

Regarding the article in this morning’s Times: “Soaker Guns: Clean Fun or Dangerous Toy?” I believe strongly that the emphasis is misplaced.

Rather than a discussion about the safety of these guns, the real issue to be addressed is not letting children use guns at all. Parents who allow guns as toys are giving tacit approval to the use of guns as problem-solving devices.
