The Edmonton Oilers matched the multimillion-dollar offer from the Washington Capitals for free agent defenseman Dave Manson.
Had the Oilers chosen not to match the offer, worth $4.6 million over four years, they would have received three first-round draft picks from the Capitals as compensation.
