Nigel Mansell won the provisional pole for the French Grand Prix at Magny Cours, France. Mansell and Williams-Renault teammate Riccardo Patrese were more than a second ahead of the field after the first timed qualifying for Sunday’s race. Another qualifying session is scheduled today.
