REGIONAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Newbury Oaks’ Fick, Hook Join Forces for No-Hitter

Bryant Fick and Jeff Hook combined on a no-hitter Friday to lead the Newbury Oaks American Legion baseball team to a 10-0 victory over Westlake B in the second round of pool play in the Gene Waid Memorial tournament at Camarillo High.
Fick (3-0) pitched five innings, striking out 11. Hook pitched one inning and walked one, but struck out the side. The game was called after six innings because of the 10-run rule.
Ryan Kritscher and Jim Chergey each had two hits and drove in two runs. David Lamb and Tighe Curran each added two hits for Newbury Oaks (14-1), which won its 14th game in a row.
AMERICAN LEGION DISTRICT 20
Woodland Hills East 7, Woodland Hills West 2--Justin Siegel (1-2) threw a seven-hitter and struck out eight to lead East to an upset at Pierce College.
Gregg Zutler had four hits for East (9-6) and John Novak had three hits for West (12-4).
Sepulveda 10, Panorama City 0--Steve Cain pitched a four-hitter and struck out eight for Sepulveda (12-3).
Brad Fullmer had a double and three runs batted in, Ethan Parker had two hits and two RBIs, Brian Stewart had two hits, including a double, and Mike Gursey had three RBIs for Sepulveda.
NATIONAL BASEBALL CONGRESS
Woodland Hills Astros 10, Valley Rangers 4--Eric Lazerus homered and doubled to lead the Astros in the first round of the NBC Western Regional tournament at San Bernardino Valley College.
Mike Shwartzer had three hits for Woodland Hills and Jim Wolf had three hits for the Rangers.
