OXNARD : Weekend Beach Bus Service to Be Cut
- Share via
Starting Sunday, South Coast Area Transit will eliminate weekend service to Oxnard beaches as part of a cost-cutting move by the city, a company official said.
Route 9, known as the Oxnard beach bus, will run only Monday through Friday, said Mel Chambers, director of administrative services.
In addition, SCAT will cut back service on Route 1, known as the Port Hueneme/Oxnard Transportation Center route.
By eliminating one of the four buses on that route, the remaining three buses will come once every 20 minutes, compared to every 15 minutes, Chambers said.
As in past years, SCAT will not run any buses today, one of six holidays during the year when SCAT does not operate, he said.
