AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Sunny Boy, a Friesian bull who becomes a father every two minutes, is set to smash breeding records by producing his millionth batch of sperm, his breeder said Monday.
“He’s done 970,000 so far--which, as far as I know, is already the world’s highest level of production,†said Jacob Chardon, general manager of the KIO Cooperative for Artificial Insemination in the northern village of Harfsen.
Sunny Boy, who works five days a week and has sired as many as 300,000 calves in a year, already has celebrity status in the Dutch agricultural press. His sperm is flown to 30 countries.
