Venice Vendors
In response to “Pleas From Venice Boardwalk Vendors Rejected,†June 6:
For many years I have been a regular walker on the Venice Boardwalk and have observed the many changes that have taken place there. Hippie-havens and the near slum conditions were replaced by a colorful, safe walking area where both tourists and Los Angeles families can enjoy an ambience similar to many European cities, but sadly lacking in Los Angeles.
Many of the artists and entertainers are quite talented and they are a source of pleasure to all visitors.
So why don’t the (licensed merchants and) stall-holders realize that the very artists they are harassing are the only reason the crowds visit Venice? Without them there would only be negligible business for anyone.
