OXNARD : Suspect Denies Guilt in Father’s Slaying

An Oxnard man accused of fatally stabbing his father in May pleaded not guilty to murder charges Friday in Ventura County Superior Court.
Jesus G. Garcia Jr., 31, is accused of the May 25 slaying of Jesus G. Garcia Sr., 49, at the family home on Birch Street. The victim was found lying in the driveway with a knife wound in his abdomen. Investigators said the son admitted the stabbing but did not explain his motive.
Judge Lawrence Storch scheduled trial for Sept. 8. Garcia remains in County Jail with bail set at $500,000.
