Countywide : Drizzle Expected Over Next Few Days

The heavy clouds that continue to loom over much of Ventura County are expected to produce scattered drizzle during the next few days but no heavy rainfall, a National Weather Service official said.

“I think you’re going to see spotty drizzle probably for the next 36 to 48 hours, probably until Friday,” weather service meteorologist Margaret Gross said Wednesday.

The lingering cloud layer sent humidity levels soaring throughout the county Wednesday, as high as 99% in Fillmore and 94% in Ventura.

But cloudiness is also causing cooler temperatures than are normal for this time of year, said Terry Schaeffer, another meteorologist for the weather service.

In the city of Ventura and other coastal areas, Wednesday’s temperatures were in the mid-60s, about 4 or 5 degrees below normal. Inland areas had temperatures in the upper 60s, or about 8 to 10 degrees cooler than usual, he said.

Schaeffer said temperatures will probably increase to normal levels by the end of the week, when the cloud layer is expected to dissipate.

“In a day or two the sun will break through and it will get warmer,” he said.
