Healing Nation’s Health Care: With health care a hotly debated topic in the presidential campaign, there is no dearth of conventions for participants to join in the fray over the political, legal, ethical and economic sides of the issue.
One of the more interesting conventions to hit Orange County will be Heal USA, the 77th Annual Catholic Health Assembly, scheduled for June 14 at the Disneyland Hotel.
During the four-day convention, participants will learn about such diverse topics as “Moral Imperatives for Health Care Reform,” “Healing in an Ailing Society” and “The Case for Health Care Reform.”
J. Fred Caesar, director of media relations for the Catholic Health Assn., the convention’s sponsor, said that the future of health care in the United States is an issue that affects all Americans.
The representatives of 600 Catholic hospitals and 300 Catholic convalescent homes will hear speakers--some of whom may contradict Catholic teachings--talk about nutrition, genetic engineering and the debate on a nationalized health care system.
