It comes as little surprise that Harvard-Westlake High is competing today for the Southern Section 2-A Division boys’ tennis championship.
The Wolverines have won five consecutive titles.
Quartz Hill stands between Harvard and its third consecutive 2-A title since moving from the 1-A Division. The teams meet at Palmdale High today at 2:30 p.m.
The Wolverines (17-2) are rolling. They have won four playoff matches by a combined score of 67-5 to improve to 74-8 over the past four seasons.
The only teams to defeat Harvard this season have been 4-A schools Santa Barbara and Peninsula.
The Wolverines’ schedule was loaded with larger schools, and they twice defeated San Marino, a 3-A finalist.
Harvard’s top player is sophomore Philip Tseng, who reached the semifinals of the individual championships Saturday before losing to eventual champion Loren Peters of Peninsula.
Quartz Hill (23-0) is led by senior Owen Goudie (66-3) and the doubles team of freshman Charlie Stoll and junior Kenny Park.
The duo, which did not play together during the regular season, is 12-0 during the playoffs.
This is a rematch of last season’s semifinal, which Harvard won, 15-3.
