Kiraly, Steffes Win Volleyball at San Diego
The top-seeded team of Karch Kiraly and Kent Steffes won the $75,000 Miller Lite Open pro beach volleyball tournament Sunday at San Diego.
Kiraly, of San Clemente, and Steffes, of Pacific Palisades, defeated Sinjin Smith and Randy Stoklos, both of Pacific Palisades, 7-6, in a sudden-death final.
Smith and Stoklos avenged an earlier loss to Kiraly and Stuffes to win, 16-14, and force the second final.
Third place went to Brian Lewis of Newport Beach and Pat Powers of San Diego.
In the $50,000 Coors Light pro beach volleyball women’s tournament at Las Vegas, Linda Carrillo of Van Nuys and Liz Masakayan of Redondo Beach beat Karolyn Kirby of San Diego and Angela Rock of Carlsbad, 15-9, in the championship match.
