Three-Car Collision in Anaheim Kills 1 Person, Injures 6 Others

A three-car collision at an intersection Saturday caused the death of a 53-year-old Anaheim woman and sent six others to various area hospitals, police said.

The accident occurred at 6:10 p.m. at Brookhurst Street and Ball Road. According to police, Van Cam Vu, 23, of Anaheim, was heading north on Brookhurst when her car collided with an automobile driven by Bill Joe Baumberger, 36, of Gillette, Wyo. Baumberger was turning left onto Ball Road.

Vu’s car then struck a third car.

Soi T. Tran, 53, of Anaheim, who was a passenger in Vu’s car, suffered internal injuries and was airlifted to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo. She died Saturday evening.

Vu and another passenger, Oanh Vu, were taken to Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim. They were in stable condition Sunday.

Baumberger, who was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, was listed in serious condition Sunday, medical center officials said. His wife, Bonnie, 35, and their sons, Billy Joe, 15, and Robert, 13, were also treated at UCI Medical Center.
