A man was killed in Lancaster on Sunday when his car slammed into a tree, authorities said.
The man, who was not identified pending notification of relatives, was driving south on 20th Street West near Avenue L-12 about 7:40 a.m. when he ran off the road and onto the dirt shoulder, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Ed Raulston said.
The man, who had been driving about 85 m.p.h., apparently lost control of the car before veering across the opposite lane and crashing into the tree, Raulston said. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed instantly, he said.
