USD, SDSU Get Crew Victories

The University of San Diego crew club, which never had a team place in the finals before, took first place in one race and finished in the top three in two others at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships at Lake Natoma in Folsom Sunday. San Diego State also had a champion in a race where UC San Diego finished second.
The Toreros won the Men’s Novice 4 Grand Final in 7 minutes, 3.6 seconds, easily defeating second-place Humboldt State (7:12.1). USD also finished second in the Women’s Novice 4 Grand Final, four seconds behind Pacific Lutheran, and its Men’s Varsity 4 finished third.
SDSU beat UCSD in the Men’s Novice 8 Grand Final, clocking 6:21.5 to the Tritons’ 6:22.3.
