Seles Sports New Look--as a Brunette

PARIS — In a city where haute couture is a tireless endeavor, Monica Seles has joined the pacesetters. She arrived at Roland Garros Stadium on Sunday with yet another makeover.
At least temporarily.
“I’ll change it again,” she said.
Out are the Garbo and Madonna phases. Seles, the world’s top-ranked player, has ditched the bleached-blond look for something a bit more sophisticated. She has gone brunette.
Drapped in ornate costume earrings and a shoulderless black dress, Seles said she changed her hair at the suggestion of a friend. “It’s something different for fun,” she said, adding the darker hair is closer to her natural color.
Seles, 18, who basks in the mystique of changing styles, went unnoticed on the Champs-Elysee Saturday night where she took in the sights. She said only two children in an ice cream boutique thought they recognized her.
They were right, but she did not acknowledge them.
“Usually, you can’t walk down” the Champs-Elysee without being besieged by autograph seekers, said Seles. “When I wake up in the morning, I say what is this?”
