Georgie White Clark, 81, among the first river guides to offer trips down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Mrs. Clark, who first swam the river with a friend through an obstacle of logs, rocks and whirlpools in 1945, designed the stable “G-Rig” in which three bridge pontoons were lashed together, forming a platform on which entire families could float down the rushing river in relative safety. When she sold her Georgie’s Royal River Rats earlier this year, she had been host, cook, guide and navigator to thousands of people. In Las Vegas on May 12.
