IRVINE — A burglary suspect, being held at the James A. Musick Branch Jail, walked away from the low-security facility over the weekend, officials reported.
The escapee is not considered dangerous, Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said.
Olson said Cuong Van Nguyen, 19, of Santa Ana, was being held at the branch jail on charges of burglary and attempted burglary. He was arrested April 10.
Olson said Nguyen is believed to have fled about midnight on Saturday.
“Nguyen was discovered missing during an inmate count that’s normally conducted several times each day at the (branch jail) facility,” Olson said. “Deputies conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the inmate.”
Nguyen was described as being about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes.
