Koon’s Book on the LAPD

In response to “Koon Pens Blunt Book About Life in LAPD,” May 16:
Richard Serrano’s article, with regard to my manuscript, was an excellent example of the type of inaccurate reporting which took place during the coverage of the King trial--coverage which was designed to mislead, prejudice and inflame.
Serrano’s article has done a tremendous disservice to the public. I would expect The Times--as a world-class newspaper--would demand its reporters be accurate and place quotes within their proper context. I was disappointed to see The Times doesn’t make this demand.
