Baldwin Park : City OKs Trash Rate Hike
The City Council unanimously approved a 10.5% increase in waste disposal rates Wednesday.
The annual increase for service by Waste Management of the San Gabriel/Pomona Valleys brings residential fees to $10.01 per month. Ellen Volmert, assistant to the city manager, said the average monthly trash fee in Los Angeles County is $11.26.
Waste Management had also requested a monthly increase to defray the cost of household hazardous waste cleanups held twice a year. But the City Council denied the request, saying that the cost of the Baldwin Park cleanups are not excessive compared with those in other cities.
