Fullerton Wrestler Advances at Trials

PHILADELPHIA — Larry Nicholson, a Fullerton resident, swept his matches at the U.S. Olympic freestyle wrestling trials Thursday at the University of Pennsylvania.
Nicholson, wrestling at 105.5 pounds, defeated Jason Buxton of Lincoln, Neb., 7-0, 7-0, to win the best-of-three match.
Nicholson, seeded third, will take on the second-seeded wrestler today. The winner will advance to face the top-seeded wrestler Saturday. The winners of the trials face the top-ranked wrestlers from 1991 in Pittsburgh on June 6 for the Olympic berths.
