PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Marina Wins, Forces Playoff Game

Joey Snyder’s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning drove in the go-ahead run and David Anderson added a two-run double as visiting Marina defeated Santa Ana, 6-3, in a Sunset League game Friday.
The victory moved the Vikings (11-15, 6-6 in league) into a third-place tie with Edison. The teams will meet in a Sunset League playoff game at 2 p.m. today at Ocean View High School, with the winner earning the final Southern Section playoff berth.
In other Sunset League games:
Fountain Valley 12, Ocean View 8--Paul Zazula hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Brian Ponchak had a three-run homer in the second for the visiting Barons (15-12, 7-5).
Huntington Beach 4, Edison 0--Ryan Brannan drove in two runs with a single in the fifth inning to break the game open for the league champion Oilers (22-3, 11-1). Derek Glascoe improved to 8-2 for Huntington Beach.
In the Academy League:
Cal Lutheran 3, Liberty Christian 2 (8)--Wes Wolf’s two-out single drove in Joel Walker in the top of the eighth for the C-Hawks (11-2, 6-2) at TeWinkle Park in Costa Mesa.
Paul Allen was three for three and scored a run for Liberty Christian (15-3, 6-2).
The victory made Cal Lutheran the top-seeded team from the Academy League because it defeated the Minutemen twice.
In the Angelus League:
Santa Margarita 7, St. John Bosco 2--James McGrach had two hits and three RBIs for the host Eagles (14-7, 10-5).
Servite 2, Loyola 1--Steve Rullo drove in both of the host Friars’ (3-21, 2-12) runs with a fifth-inning double.
In the Arrowhead League:
Calvary Chapel 4, Leffingwell Lutheran 3--Greg Smith was three for three, drove in two runs and scored once and Joe Jones drove in what proved to be the winning run with a single in the fifth for the Eagles (11-7, 7-3) at TeWinkle Park.
In the Century League:
Canyon 4, El Modena 0--Jarrod Kula (7-3) pitched a one-hitter, striking out eight for the visiting Comanches (17-7-1, 11-3-1).
Foothill 16, Orange 0--Dave Trentine drove in five runs and Mike Urbanski hit a two-run homer in the first for the host Knights (17-8, 11-4).
Jason Schwary (7-1) pitched a five-hitter, striking out 10.
Villa Park 4, Santa Ana Valley 3--Senior Steve Lebrecht went two for two and drove in two runs for the host Spartans (11-12-2, 8-7).
In the Olympic League:
Brethren Christian 7, Ontario Christian 1--Seth Carey was three for four and scored twice and Scott Blackwell (5-2) and two relievers combined on a three-hitter for the host Warriors (10-8, 6-6).
Eddie Carlson hit a fourth-inning, bases-empty homer for Brethren Christian.
In the Orange League:
Anaheim 5, Brea-Olinda 4--John Kafoury had a two-run single and Jake Barber had a two-run triple and the deciding run scored on Angel Rivera’s single for the host Colonists (13-13, 7-8).
Three of Brea-Olinda’s runs were unearned. The league champions lost their second consecutive game to fall to 17-7-1, 12-3.
Valencia 4, Savanna 3--Eric Ensman hit a two-run homer in the fifth and scored twice as the host Tigers (17-7, 12-3) matched Brea-Olinda’s league record, but will go as the league’s second-seeded team because the Wildcats won two of the three games between the teams.
Jason Hanmer improved to 8-0 and Mike Lorge pitched 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief, striking out two for his sixth save.
